With McNair’s tragic death, at the age of 36, the NFL lost a former player who embodied the enduring spirit of football’s competitive nature. McNair, as one of his former teammates in Tennessee said, played the game the way it was meant to be played.
He was named to the Pro Bowl four times, and in 2003, shared the league MVP award with Peyton Manning after turning in the best numbers of his career: 24 touchdowns against a mere seven interceptions, 3,215 passing yards and a 100.1 passer rating.
McNair threw for over 31 000 yards, 174 touchdowns, and a 60.1 pass completion rate.
We tip our helmets to Steve McNair. May he rest in peace.
