Player: Marcus Thomas
Team: Denver Broncos
Position: Nose Tackle
Jersey #: 79
Drafted: 2007/Round 4/Pick 121
Height: 6'3"
Weight: 316
Pro Career: ‘07-present Broncos
Personal notes:
Son of Sheila Mote, Marcus seriously considered leaving school early to enter the NFL Draft after the 2005 season, but wanted to return and play for the Gators, who went on to win the national championship with one of their best players watching the game at home.
College awards and records:
While he played for Gators during the 2006 football season, his dominant play clearly showed as he accumulated 26 tackles and 4 sacks in only 5 games. Prior to the game against LSU when he was on suspension, the Vegas Line was -1 in favor of LSU. After he was activated for the game, the Vegas Line was +3 in favor of Florida.
PROFESSIONAL:
Thomas worked his way into the Broncos rotation, starting the final four games of the 2007 season. He recorded an interception and fumble recovery while at times showing glimpses of the 1st round talent (he fell to the 4th round due to character issues) many NFL draft experts bestowed on him prior to the 2007 NFL Draft.
