The South Jersey Football Coaches Association honored its Class of 2009 Hall of Fame inductees with a banquet last night. Inducted were:
Pete Miles (High School Coach)
The long-time Delran High football coach, Miles’ teams have posted more than 100 career victories with the Bears winning South Jersey Group 2 championships in 1987, 1989 and 1990.
Turk McBride (Active Professional Player)
A 2003 Woodrow Wilson High graduate and former two-way star for the Tigers, McBride is currently a defensive lineman for the Kansas City Chiefs of the National Football League.
Derrick Ramsey (Retired Professional Player)
A Camden High graduate, Ramsey was a former star tight

Derrick Ramsey (Retired Professional Player)
A Camden High graduate, Ramsey was a former star tight end for the Raiders and Patriots in a nine-year NFL career that spanned 1978 to 1987. He played on the 1981 Raiders’ Super Bowl team. He is currently the Coppin State University Athletic Director.
Bob McQuillan (Distinguished Service)
One of South Jersey’s top coaches in history, McQuillan has served stints at Gloucester Catholic as both a head coach and assistant, West Catholic (Pa.) as a head coach, and Widener as an assistant coach. McQuillan helped Widener win three Division III national championships in the 1970s.
Dr. John Owens (Legends)
Dr. Owens was a standout running back at both Audubon High in 1958 and 1959 and the University of Pennsylvania from 1960 to 1963. At Audubon, he earned All-Conference and All-South Jersey honors while at Penn, he led the Quakers in rushing his senior season. He is a well-known cardiologist in the region and a prolific golfer.
John Walter (Legends)
A former standout tight end and defensive end, Walter led Haddon Township teams to three consecutive South Jersey Group 2 playoff appearances and two Colonial Conference titles from 1979 to 1981, earning All-State honors as a senior. He also was a standout defensive end and linebacker at Penn State, playing on the 1982 national championship team that won the Sugar Bowl and on PSU teams that played in the Fiesta and Aloha Bowls.
