Jaguars defensive end Quentin Groves has a message for the fans: If you send him a tweet, you'll receive a reply.
"It's a way to interact with the fans," Groves said. "That's the reason I like it - the fans. So many times, they feel like they can't talk to us, or they can't get enough autographs, or they can't talk to us enough. Twitter gives us a way to talk to them when we're just sitting at home or sitting around watching TV. I can pick up my phone and [use] Twitter, or I can just get on my computer and [use] Twitter, and they are like, "OK, he's a real person.' "
Groves said he receives about 50 replies for every tweet and has about 1,400 followers. He'd like to get to 20,000.
When a member of the media jokingly said Groves will get more followers if he gets more sacks, he smiled and said, "Low blow."
Groves, a second-round draft pick in 2008, wants to make more of impact than he did in his rookie season, when he had 21/2 sacks.
The 6-foot-3 Groves has the speed to rush the passer, but he has to work on stopping the run. He's bulked up from 254 pounds to 263.
"That's the hardest point because everybody knows I've gained weight, and now it's up to me to put that weight to good use," Groves said. "It's not enough to look pretty and be big and stuff like that."
He said he has to keep offensive tackles from moving him out of the gaps.
Just wanted to let u know iam proud to see u made it. I tried getting word to u through family but i guess due to your schedule it never made it but keep it up. Peace and Love.
