Personal Notes: I worked many part-time jobs growing up and I credit those experiences as a big reason for my possessing the work ethic to make it into the NFL in 2003. At 16 I landed my first job as a grill cook at McDonald's in Eugene, OR. Working at McDonald's really made me learn that I better go to college and get an education. I liked the people I worked with but I knew flipping burgers wasn't for me. I turned in my teal polo shirt and paper hat for a spot on an assembly line at a local wood mill when I was 17. Then while at Boise State, I was a teller at Idaho Independent Bank, my favorite of the three jobs. Being a teller really taught me the value of saving my money and investing it the right way. It was fun just because I came across all kinds of people.
I enjoy watching professional motorcycle racing on SpeedTV. It's really exciting. When I'm out or I miss a race, I tell my wife to tape it for me so I can watch it when I get home. My two favorite professional racers are Nicky Hayden and Valentino Rossi. I also own my own motorcycle and often ride with teammates Sheldon Brown and Lito Sheppard.
I earned my boating license during the 2005 offseason by taking lessons at Safety First Boating School in New Jersey. I went on a cruise to the Eastern Caribbean with about 24 family members in the offseason and I got hooked on jet skis and boats. I wanted to do it the right way and learn from a professional, so when I got home I took classes.
College Awards and Records: Finished his Boise State career ranked second all-time in tackles (401). As a senior earned WAC defensive player of the year honors. In 2002, the two-time, first-team All-WAC selection made 97 tackles, while posting 4 sacks, 5.5 TFLs, 1 INT, 8 FFs and 2 blocked FGs. His FF total tied an NCAA record set by Dwight Freeney in 2001 and now ranks tied for 2nd all-time. As a junior, posted 87 tackles 2 sacks and 2 INTs. Posted 118 tackles in his sophomore season to earn All-Big West Conference defensive POY honors. As a true freshman earned Freshman All-America honors from The Football News and All-Big West honors after making 99 stops, 2 sacks and 2 INTs.
