My full name is Robert Nathan Mathis. In the off season I try to get involved in charity work. I have assisted the Indianapolis Public Schools Foundation with their annual "Food 4 Thought" fundraiser...I’ve hosted a fundraiser for Boys and Girls Club of Huntsville, Ala. and I also contribute to college and high school sports programs. Right now I’m hosting an annual summer football camp for children ages 7-18 at the University of Indianapolis, in Indianapolis. See my community page for more information on that. In college was a member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc, Nu Epsilon Chapter.
Career highlights and records:
As a 4-year starter at Alabama A&M, Robert set an NCAA 1-AA record with 20 sacks during his senior season and established himself as one of the most dominant defensive players in NCAA 1-AA history.
Rookie season as a pass rush specialist, he saw action in all 16 regular season games and recorded 20 tackles, 3.5 sacks and 3 forced fumbles. Second season, 36 tackles, 10.5 sacks and 6 forced fumbles. Third season, he set a Colts franchise record with 8 consecutive games with at least 1 sack, and finished the season with 54 tackles, 11.5 sacks and 8 forced fumbles, despite missing three games due to injuries.
The following season, Robert recorded a career high 65 tackles along with 9.5 sacks and 6 forced fumbles and helped the Colts go on win Super Bowl XLI and become NFL Champions.
In 2007, though he missed a quarter of the season due to injuries, but still recorded 32 tackles, 7 sacks and 4 forced fumbles. In 2008, his best statistical season, he posted 48 tackles, 11.5 sacks and 5 forced fumbles. He was also voted to the 2008 NFL Pro Bowl for the AFC.
